Martella’s Pharmacy 4 Delweld 3

It took an extra frame for the league’s top two teams to duke it out on Thursday in the late game at Point Stadium as Martella’s Pharmacy edged Delweld in eight innings.

With Delweld leading 3-0 in the top of the fourth, Chris Rasky blasted a three-run homer to center to tie the game. The game stayed tied until the top of the eighth when Mike LeViseur led off with a double. David McKolosky pinch ran and moved to third on Evan Gazza’s groundout.

Rasky doubled home McKolosky for the game winner.

Zach Satira (3-1) picked up the win, tossing five scoreless innings of relief. Brett Vescovi took the loss for Delweld.

Rasky went 3-for-4 and drove in all four runs for Martella’s while Colin Harrington added two hits.

The teams will square off again on

Tuesday when league play resumes in the 5:45 p.m. contest at Roxbury.



Cambria Legion

playoffs open Sunday

The best-of-3 first-round playoffs will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at four sites.

Top-seeded Claysburg (17-1) will host No. 8 Patton (8-10) while fifth-seeded Westmont (11-5) is at Bedford (11-5).

In the other bracket, No. 7 Ebensburg (9-9) is at second-seeded Cernic’s (15-3) and No. 6 Portage’s Serenko Funeral Home (12-6) will play No. 3 Somerset

(14-4) at the Boswell Jaycees field in Ferrellton.

Weather permitting, the semifinals

will get under way on Wednesday while

the championship round is set for Saturday.

No series will begin until all the teams have reached the same point.



Richland/Windber 16

St. Michael 15

SIDMAN – Patrick Long doubled home two runs in the top of the 10th inning as Richland/Windber rallied for a win over St. Michael in a completion of a game suspended at 14-14 on June 24.

In the original game, the 56ers (3-15) built an 8-1 lead in the fourth inning, but the Saints (7-11) exploded for 12 runs in the bottom of the frame. The 56ers trailed 13-10 in the top of the seventh and scored four runs to take the lead, but the Saints plated a run on a Dillon Hoffman single to send it to extra frames.

Long led the 56ers with two doubles and four hits. Cameron Kaminsky, David Barefoot and John Bennett had three hits each for the 56ers.

Kaminsky and Eric Montag (double) each had three RBIs.

Patrick Donoghue and Joe McCall (double, three RBIs) led St. Michael with three hits each while Michael Baker, Jeff Meier and Hoffman had two hits each.

John Klinar tossed six innings in relief to earn the win and Bob Carbaugh pitched the 10th inning for the save.



Thursday

Westmont 13

Stoystown 7

CAIRNBROOK – Westmont exploded for six runs in the top of the ninth inning to cap off back-to-back doubles by Brett Marshall and Jake Grace.



Stoystown 14 Richland/Windber 10

CAIRNBROOK – Zac Miller was 3-for-4 with five stolen bases and two runs, Joel Kaminsky went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and Mike Shaw had a hit and scored three runs in a Stoystown victory.

Alex Paros had two hits, including a two-run double in the sixth and Travis Gelles had a two-run single for Richland/Windber.
