Cambria Legion

Cernic’s 8, Ebensburg 0

Andrew Stephens went the distance and struck out six in a shutout as Cernic’s opened its best-of-3 first-round Legion playoff series with a win at Franklin Field.

Zach Henry hit a three-run homer in the first inning, one of two hits for him in the game. Alex Martin had two hits and scored a run, and teammate Alex Roberts doubled twice.

Shawn Kyper had two hits for Ebensburg.



Westmont 10, Bedford 5

BEDFORD – Dave McKolosky and Chris Garaventa doubled while Bryan Marshall had four hits to lead Westmont over Bedford in the opener of their best-of-3 playoff series.

Seth Shaffer had three hits and Byron Rose had two for the hosts.



Claysburg 9, Patton 2

CLAYSBURG – Dave Murtrie and Cody Swope combined for a six-hitter, striking out 10, walking one and yielding just one earned run to help Claysburg open its best-of-3 series against Patton with a win.

Mike Blair went 2-for-4 and drove in four runs for the hosts.

Ian Olsavsky was 2-for-3 with a triple for Patton.



Somerset 14, Serenko F.H. 1

FERRELLTON – Cody Hemminger’s grand slam home run in the bottom of the sixth inning sealed Serenko Funeral Home’s fate as Somerset took just six innings to win its best-of-3 series opener against Serenko Funeral Home at the Boswell Jaycees Field.

Hemminger finished 2-for-5 with five RBIs.

Teammate Chase Dykstra was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and Ryan Fisher went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Scott Nolan was 2-for-3 to lead Serenko.
