La Roche 76
Mount Aloysius 46
PITTSBURGH – Mount Aloysius’ season came to an end with a loss to top-seeded La Roche College in the AMCC tournament.
La Roche jumped out to an early 18-2 lead. But Mount Aloysius (17-10, 11-7) had two 7-0 runs to pull within five points with just under five minutes to play in the first half.
La Roche regained the momentum and took a 30-20 lead into the break.
A string of turnovers allowed La Roche to extend its lead to 18 points. But a Kaleigh Roop traditional three-point play with 15:01 to play pulled the Lady Mounties within 10 points. However, they were unable to get any closer the remainder of the contest.
La Roche’s full-court pressure forced 26 Mount Aloysius turnovers. The Lady Mounties also suffered one of their worst shooting performances of the year. They shot just 29 percent from the field, and were 5 for 25 from behind the arc.
Becky Bard topped Mount Aloysius with 15 points. Roop and Lindsy Sammarco each scored eight points.
Casie Cygan led La Roche with 18 points. La Shauna Brothers added 14 points and 14 rebounds.
