JOHNSTOWN —
Five Greater Johnstown High School football players will take their skills to the next level.
Quarterback John Siciliano, was one of the quintet of players to commit to a college on Thursday at the high school. He signed a letter of intent to play on scholarship at St. Francis under new coach Chris Villarrial.
In the past two seasons as Johnstown’s starting quarterback, Siciliano guided the Trojans to 16 wins, a District 6 Class AAA championship and a 6-AAA runner-up finish.
He passed for a combined 1,959 yards, 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions during his junior and senior seasons. The elusive scrambler also rushed for a combined 1,582 yards and 19 touchdowns in the past two years.
As a senior, Siciliano completed 59 of 122 passes for
919 yards, 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He ran for 716 yards on 119 carries, a
6.02 average, and 13 touchdowns as the Trojans went 8-4 and won the 6-AAA title with a win over Hollidaysburg under former coach Kevin Marabito.
During his junior season, Siciliano completed 71 of 151 passes for 1,040 yards, nine touchdowns and one interception. He ran for 866 yards on 143 attempts, a 6.06 average, and six touchdowns. The Trojans finished 8-4 and placed second to Hollidaysburg in the district final.
He lettered three times in football, once in basketball and four times in track and field.
He is the son of the late John Siciliano II and Judy Kurtanick.
He plans to major in environmental science.
As previously announced in The Tribune-Democrat, Kashmire Pretlor plans attend California University of Pennsylvania, where he plans to major in sports management.
Also Thursday, Zachariah Gobbel, Ryan Sisco and Chris Bilak announced their intentions to play college football.
Gobbel, the son of the late Scott Gobbel and Diane Gobbel. He plans to play football at Waynesburg and study in the health field. He was a three-year letterman in football and track. He also wrestled during his junior year.
Sisco is the son of Richard and Darlene Sisco. He plans to join Gobbel at Waynesburg and also will study in the health field. He lettered three times in football.
Bilak is the son of Sheri Bilak.
He plans to play at Juniata but has not yet decided on a major. He is a three-year letterman in football, track and wrestling.
