[VIDEO] Talented local student gets $1,000 scholarship for driving safety message
Max Fedore, 18, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship in the 2012 Edgar Snyder & Associates’ “Words to Be Heard” scholarship contest.
Fedore, a Richland High School senior, is one of eight winners out of more than 400 entries. Joshua Sarver of Meyersdale also was a scholarship winner. -

[VIDEO] Sci-Fi in the Valley Con brings Jedi, Vulcans to Ebensburg
On Friday and Saturday, the North Central Recreation Center in Ebensburg was the epicenter of a sci-fi, fantasy and horror subculture previously unseen in this area.
The first Sci-Fi in the Valley Con packed the rec center for two days of geeky fellowship.
The event wraps up today, yet many starships have landed, lightsabers have “vwoomed” and undead have shuffled alongside pirates and robots on the show floor - luckily, author Kirk Allmond put together a "Zombie Preparedness" panel. -

On Friday, little leaguers from Johnstown, Monroeville and Pittsburgh took the field at Point Stadium for the first-ever "Dirtbag Classic," an exhibition game that benefitted The Women's Help Center of Johnstown.
