Alvin M. Glosser

JOHNSTOWN — GLOSSER – Alvin M., 88, Westmont, died Feb. 14, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 4, 1923, in Johnstown, son of the late Saul and Eva (Hurwitz) Glosser. Survived by wife of 55 years, Joan L. (Vertman); children, Diane, married to Brent Rosenthal, Sioux City, Iowa; Saul S. and Dr. Donna Barnhart, Westmont; and Mindy, married to Charles Conklin, Chalfont, Pa.; brothers, Morton, Florida; and William, Westmont; and grandchildren, Dr. Julie Rosenthal; Leslie Rosenthal; Alli Rosenthal; Michael and Jill Rosenthal; Douglas Glosser; and Zachary and Adam Conklin. Member of Beth Sholom Congregation. A graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy and attended the University of Pennsylvania. Past president of Glosser Bros. and Sunnehanna Country Club. Past board member of Johnstown Bank & Trust, St. Francis College and Westmont School District. Committee member at Memorial Hospital. Chairman of United Jewish Appeal at Rodef Sholom Synagogue. Member of Johnstown Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club. Co-owner of Great Ideas, along with his wife. World War II veteran. Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at Beth Sholom Congregation, Rabbi Irvin Brandwein. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum. Donations may be made to Beth Sholom Congregation or Conemaugh Health Foundation. Arrangements by John Henderson Co. Funeral Home.
