PORTAGE — DuBRITZ – Dorothy I. “Buddy,” 97, Portage, died Nov. 1, 2012, at home. Born Feb. 6, 1915, in Portage, daughter of Andrew Sr. and Mary (Furman) Uhren. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Frank DuBritz, Brooklyn, N.Y.; brothers, Joseph, John and Andrew Jr.; and sisters, Sophie Hall, Elizabeth Slage and Mary Uhren; also sons-in-law, Gregory Kalwasinski and William Knouse. She was the last member of her immediate family. Survived by children, Anita Kalwasinski-Knouse, and friend, Doug; Dorothy, wife of Dave Mrkich; Frank DuBritz, her beloved son with whom she resided; and Mary Ann, wife of Robert Cochran, all of Portage. She will be sadly missed by her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Dorothy lived in Brooklyn from 1933 to 1975. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, sewing, gardening and playing board games, especially Scrabble. Friends received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Loretto, the Rev. Monsignor Timothy Swope, VF, celebrant. Committal, St. Michael’s Cemetery, Loretto.
