OGLETOWN —
WEYANDT – Harvey, 81, Ogletown, went into the welcoming arms of his Lord Nov. 3, 2012. Born Aug. 26, 1931, in Claysburg, son of the late Hughey and Carrie (Feathers) Weyandt. Also preceded in death by sons, Robert and Elwood “Duke” Weyandt, and 11 brothers and sisters. Survived by wife of 58 years, former Bonnie Keslar ; these children: Harvey Jr., married to former Robin Reed; Sally, wife of Ronald Westover; Carmel, wife of Fred Bowser, all of Windber; and David, Ebensburg; and daughter-in-law, former Barbara Ott, Windber. Brother of Viola Niemi, Florida. Also eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a large extended family whom he loved. By the side of his bed at the age of 29, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and from that day until his last breath it was his desire to share the great salvation and life transformation that he received with everyone he met. His life verse was Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth…” Within 10 minutes of meeting him, he would ask you where you would spend your eternity if this was you last day on earth. His love for Jesus Christ and mankind made it impossible for him not to share the love of Christ. It was his desire to see no soul perish but for all to be on their way to heaven. Harvey was the founder of Harvey Weyandt & Sons Produce, Windber. U.S. Army sergeant during the Korean War. Member of Faith Chapel Independent Baptist Church, Johnstown. Special thanks to the staff at Windber Hospice, Dr. Nick Masciotra and Pastor Andrew Taylor. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Andrew Taylor, officiating. Private interment at Ogletown Cemetery. Memorials may be made to either Windber Hospice or Faith Chapel in Harvey’s memory. (www.meekfuneralhome.com)
