JOHNSTOWN — BURKEY– Larry Ross, 64, Johnstown, died Oct. 24, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Sept. 16, 1948, in Johnstown, son of the late Ross A. and Georgina R. “Jean” (Ribblett) Burkey. Preceded in death by brother, Mark, and sister, Angela. Survived by brother, Kenneth, married to the former Marilynn Miller, Vinco; sister, Ann E. Burkey, Johnstown; brother, Yohannes Schneider, Berlin, Germany; and nieces and nephews, Shawn P. Burkey, Hannah, Hazen, Vanross, Ariana, Dalton and Clayton. Also survived by numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and aunts. Larry was a faithful member of the Vinco Brethren Church, where he sang in the choir. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked for Bethlehem Steel Corp. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. Friends are invited to a memorial service at 1 p.m. Monday at the Vinco Brethren Church, Pastor Wes Lewis officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Headrick Union Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the VFW Post 155 Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to the funeral home to offset costs.
