HELVEY – Wade E., 92, Laurel View Village, formerly of Somerset, died Oct. 27, 2012, at Laurel View. Born Aug. 26, 1920, in Somerset, son of the late Henry and Iris (Helvey) Southern. Also preceded in death by his wife, Betty M. (Stark) Helvey, to whom he was married 65 years; brother, Robert; and sister, Peggy. Survived by a sister, Maxine Southern, Glen Burnie, Md., and nieces and nephews, Judy and Jesse Klink, Rockwood; Dennis and Tammy Sprock, Connellsville; Craig and Cris Sprock, Davidsville; and Michelle Stark Eyles, Phoenix, Ariz. Also seven great-nieces and nephews and 10 great-great-nieces and nephews. Wade was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset Lodge 358 F&AM, Coudersport Consistory, Jaffa Shrine and Tall Cedars. A 70-year member of the American Post 191 and the 55 and Over Speeders. He was a retired inspector for the state of Pennsylvania. Wade and Betty lived at their West Union Street residence for over 60 years and always enjoyed the neighbors. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, Somerset, and from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, at Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. Linda J. McElroy Thomas, officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
