NEW PARIS — EVANS – Francis J., 86, Market Lane, New Paris (Fishertown), died at 12:05 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. Mr. Evans was born in South Fork on Saturday, Aug. 28, 1926, son of the late Frank and Susan Pearl (Costello) Evans. On March 13, 1951, he married Ruth Y. (Hinderliter) Evans. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Donald D., husband of Carolyn (Banks) Evans, El Portal, Calif., and daughter, Kathleen A., wife of Franklin Sweet, Chantilly, Va. He also is survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly Evans; a brother, Dean Evans; and a sister, Faith Noon. Francis was affiliated with the Alum Bank United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Francis was a 1957 graduate of Cambria-Rowe Business College in Johnstown. He received his bachelor’s degree from IUP and his master’s degree from Towson State in Maryland. Francis was a retired high school business teacher and coordinator. He was a member of the Bedford American Legion Post 113 and a past commander of the Disabled Veterans of America. Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home Inc., Pleasantville, where funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, the Rev.
