UPPER YODER TOWNSHIP — HOWARD – Paul A., 91, Upper Yoder, died March 15, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Aug. 16, 1921, in Johnstown, son of Joseph and Anna (Smith) Howard. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Mary Henry and Elizabeth Conaway; brothers Frank, George, Lawrence “Bud,” Arlington and John; and grandson, Dr. Mark Larnick. Survived by wife of 67 years, Evelyn (Metzger); children, Paulette, married to Joe Wohl, Chambersburg; Floyd, married to the former Elaine Connah, Johnstown; and Chris, married to the former Linda Rauch, Upper Yoder Township; grandchildren, Brooke, married to Bryan; Justin, married to Ashley; Renee; Courtney, married to Bob; and Carey, married to Ryan; great-grandchildren, Chase and Luke Raino, Annika Cassol, Bradley and Wesley Smith and Damian and Dominic Chiodo; and a sister, Bertha Toth, New York. Life member of Roxbury Church of the Brethren, where he was a deacon. Attended New Life Christian Fellowship and most recently, Bridge to Life church. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams, the Pirates being his favorite. Paul enjoyed walking and telling jokes. His constant smile will be missed. World War II Army veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. Retired from Goucher Street School. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Pastor Chris Valente. Interment, Benshoff Hill Cemetery, where military service will be held by Post 155 Ritual Team.
