UPPER YODER TOWNSHIP — EMERICK – Mary Kathryn (Kuhne), 97, Upper Yoder Township, died March 17, 2013, at LaurelWood Care Center. Born Jan. 25, 1916, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Albert Edward and Dillie (Cober) Kuhne Sr. Predeceased by husband, Frank Donald Emerick; brother, Albert E. Kuhne Jr.; and sisters, Mary Louise Kuhne Witpractiger and Martha Jane Kuhne Barndt. She is survived by sister-in-law, Fay Freidhoff Kuhne; nieces, Kathryn Ann Witpractiger Spitler (Mrs. James) and Karen Cunningham Eamigh (Mrs. John), both of Arizona; and Nancy Jane Kuhne Marshall and Carol Ann Kuhne Myers (Mrs. David), both of Johnstown; nephews, Albert E. (Abbie) Kuhne III, South Fork; the Rev. Robert Allen Barndt, Midland, Texas; Timothy Allen Barndt, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Roger David Kuhne and Frederick William Kuhne, both of Johnstown; and many great-nieces and -nephews. She was a graduate of Johnstown High School and Cambria-Rowe Business College, then working at F.M. Shaffer Ice Co. and Penelec. Kate was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Michael Van Dyke, officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Kathryn Emerick Memorial Fund, Zion Lutheran Church, 613 Locust St., Johnstown, Pa. 15901.
