NORTHERN CAMBRIA — HRUBOCHAK – John P., 93, Northern Cambria, passed away March 21, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center (Good Samaritan), Johnstown. Born Feb. 16, 1920, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., son of John and Mary (Dvorocsik) Hrubochak. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Mike; and sisters, Ann Vasiloff, Mary Phillips, Elizabeth Pettit and Veronica Funyak. Survived by loving wife of 64 years, former Agnes Kunch, whom he married Aug. 7, 1948; children, John J., and wife, Dolores (Penksa), Northern Cambria; Joanne, and husband, Jay Mortenson, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Marianne, and husband, David Mehall; and James, and wife, Nora (Clark), both of Hastings; grandchildren, John M. and Christina Hrubochak, Justin and Jeremy Mortenson, Keri (Mehall) Marshall, David Mehall and Olivia Hrubochak; and great-grandson, Landon Marshall. Brother of Margaret Togna, Princeton, N.J.; Pauline Przybocki; and Helen, and husband, Joe Przybocki, both of Gordonville, Va.; Paul, and wife, Louise, Patton; and Catherine Stanek, Northern Cambria. A World War II veteran, who was stationed in London, England. He worked for Strollo’s and Previte Bros. before he retired from Greenwich Collieries in 1985. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Beneficiary member of the Slovak Club in Northern Cambria. John loved to fish, plant a garden and watch the Pittsburgh Pirates. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 3 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Committal, St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by local veterans organizations.
