JOHNSTOWN — CARPINTERI – Samuel P., 94, Lutheran Home at Johnstown, formerly of Boswell, died Oct. 2, 2012, at the home. Born Dec. 2, 1917, in Black Township, Somerset County, son of Paul and Grace (Cassisi) Carpinteri. Preceded in death by parents and sisters, Josephine J. Toth, Rose M. Folton and Pauline N. Borosky. Survived by sister, Johnanna Bovo, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and eight nieces and nephews. Graduate of the former Boswell High School. Proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater as a medical aidman with Company C 263rd Medical Battalion Engineer Special Brigade. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish, Boswell Post 461 American Legion and Somerset Post 554 VFW. Owner and operator of the former Carpinteri’s Bar in Boswell until 1980. Viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Church, Boswell, the Rev. Father Justin A. Ratajczak, OFM, Conv., celebrant.
