Francis B. Stanek

NORTHERN CAMBRIA — STANEK – Francis B., 91, Northern Cambria, died June 24, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Sept. 29, 1920, in Cymbria, son of John and Frances (Kozdeba) Stanek. Preceded in death by parents and brothers, Andy, Walter, Stanley, John, George, Anthony, Joseph and Leo. Survived by wife of 41 years, the former Catherine Hrubochak; daughters, Mary Frances, Ebensburg; and Teresa, married to Anthony Milazzo, Harleysville, Pa.; grandchildren, Jordan and Aaron Milazzo; siblings, Mary Lubert, Brick, N.J.; Vincent, Northern Cambria; Bill, Mars; and Barney, Canonsburg. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Retired from Greenwich Collieries. Member of UMWA. Former member of Northern Cambria Catholic School Board. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, and former St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church. He was devoted to his family, church and community. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, where Altar and Rosary service will be held, followed by vigil for the deceased. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Committal, with graveside military rites, at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
