WINDBER — FLETCHER – John G. Sr., 88, Windber, passed away Feb. 1, 2013, at Church of the Brethren Home, Windber. Born Dec. 5, 1924, in Windber, son of Frank and Rose (Tangel) Fecser. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Joe and Frank Fletcher; and sister, Margaret Mendat. Survived by loving wife of 62 years, former Mary Alexander; these children: Rosann Summerlin, Manassas, Va.; Frances Smith, Amissville, Va.; Mary Hintosh, Manassas; John Fletcher Jr., Manassas; Thomas Fletcher, and fiancee, Tammie, Windber; Robert Fletcher, and wife, Gail, Woodbridge, Va.; and William Fletcher, Stephens City, Va.; grandchildren, Lonnie Summerlin, Jason and Nick Bobak, Chris and Jeff Hintosh, Sarah Hopkins, Jonny, Jamie and Lauri Fletcher and Thomas Jr., Zachary and Hannah Fletcher; and 15 great-grandchildren. Navy veteran of World War II. Coached Windber Little League for many years. Retired from Bethlehem Steel. John enjoyed fishing, walking and biking. He also volunteered at Windber Hospital. Member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, the Very Rev. Leonard E. Voytek, VF, pastor. Entombment, All Faiths Chapel and Mausoleum, Windber. Military graveside rites by Windber VFW Post 4795.
