HASTINGS — EARLEY – Mary Jane, 69, formerly of Hastings, passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013. Born Dec. 15, 1943, in Spangler, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Morton and Dorothy Earley. Also preceded in death by brother, M. Jay Earley. Survived by daughter, Suzanne (Bradford) Rood; son-in-law, Bobby; and grandchildren, Kincaid and Kadison, all of Strongsville, Ohio; sister, Margaret “Peggy” Delong; and several nieces and nephews. Ms. Earley taught elementary education at St. Bernard’s Catholic School. Member of Hastings United Methodist Church. She graduated from Greir School, Lebanon Valley College and Penn State, having earned her master’s degree in education. As a result of her love of learning, she was an avid reader. Ms. Earley spent her final days living near her family in Ohio, prior to this she resided at Stepping Stones in Cresson. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Hastings United Methodist Church, where service will follow at 11 a.m., the Rev. David Stains, officiating. Interment, Reynoldsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to create a library at Stepping Stones in memory of Ms. Earley.
