NORTHERN CAMBRIA — SHEREDY – Mildred E., 92, Northern Cambria, died Nov. 24, 2012, at Miners Medical Center, Hastings. Born April 8, 1920, in Barnesboro, daughter of Andrew and Mary (Brant) Zurenko. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Michael J., in 1983 (former police chief of Barnesboro); and sisters, Helen Nagyiski, Winifred Resnick, Molly Castle and Margaret Born. Survived by children, Betty Jean Kuzma, and husband, Fred, Northern Cambria; Dennis, and wife, Ilene (Weakland), Yuma, Ariz.; and Michele Noblitt, and husband, John, Arvada, Colo.; grandchildren, Kimberly Sheredy, Matthew Sheredy (Natalie), Roxanne Kopera (Richard) and Nicole Bell (Chad); great-grandchild, Molly Kopera; great-great-grandchild, Braelynn Bell; and sister, Cecilia Madden, Hollidaysburg. She was an avid gardener, loved to crochet, read and do word search. Former member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. Present member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, where altar and rosary service will be held at 3 p.m., followed by vigil for the deceased. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Committal, St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery.
