RICHLAND — YOUNKIN – Garnet B., 85, Arbutus Park Manor, formerly of Emporium, died Feb. 3, 2012, at the manor. Born April 28, 1926, in Clairton, daughter of the late William and Sarah (Penn) Betts. Also preceded in death by son, Terry, and brothers, William and Christopher. Survived by husband of 66 years, Paul B. Younkin; these children: Gary, married to Jene (Porsch), Hume, Va., and Susan, wife of Raymond Porsch, Johnstown; and grandchildren, Kevin Porsch; Eric, married to Melissa Groszkiewicz; Brooke Porsch; Tylar Younkin; and Tory Younkin. Former office manager at Emporium Water Co. and secretary for the Pennsylvania Bureau of State Parks, Harrisburg. Member of the Presbyterian Church in Emporium and Carlisle. She served as a Sunday school teacher in Emporium for many years. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was outgoing and loved people, the outdoors, animals, hobbies and playing tennis. Paul and Garnet spent 27 winters at the World Tennis Center in Naples, Fla. Friends received from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, the Rev. Alice Tondora, officiating. Interment, Sanford Cemetery, Emporium. The family would like to thank the staff at Crossroads and Doerr Wings at Arbutus for their loving care and compassion.
