CARROLLTOWN — NOVAK – Helen, 90, Carrolltown, passed away Oct. 11, 2012, at ARHS-Altoona Hospital Campus. Born Feb. 24, 1922, in Allport, daughter of John Sr. and Mary (Patrick) Hanyok. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Joseph S. Novak; sister, Mary Baranik; and brothers, Robert J. “Hunky” Hanyok and John Hanyok. Survived by children, Patricia (Jim) Cence, Johnstown; Gloria (Ron) Boland, Patton; and Joe (Karen) Novak, Ashville; grandchildren, John, Sherry, Sandy, Denise, Scott, Shaun, Nathan, Brian, Melissa, Mary Grace, Maria and Melinda; great-grandchildren, Cody, Logan, Wyatt and Brooke; sisters, Marge Kostick, Cleveland, Ohio; Frances Young, Parma, Ohio; and Betty Karanik, New York; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown. She enjoyed flower gardening. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday Oct. 14, at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 146 N. Main St., Carrolltown, Pa. 15722, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Additional viewing will be held from noon until time of funeral Mass at 1 p.m. Monday in the Boniface Wimmer Room at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, by the Rev. Jude W. Brady, OSB.
