CARROLLTOWN — VENESKY – Mardell A., 80, Carrolltown, passed away Oct. 30, 2012, at home. Born Oct. 2, 1932, in Spangler, daughter of Richard and Cecelia (Mitchell) Lawrence. Preceded in death by parents; former husband, Thomas R. Venesky; son-in-law, Paul Zimmerman; sister, June Monaco; and brother, in infancy, Richard Norman. Mardell is survived by children, Tim Venesky, Linda Zimmerman and Chris (Emma) Venesky; grandchildren, Kelly (Josh) Lundgren; Lucas (Tracey) Zimmerman; Amberly and Ben Zimmerman; and Andrea, Georgianna and Alan Thomas Venesky; great-grandson, Owen; brothers, Jack, Robert and Wayne Lawrence; sisters, Sarah Jane Strong, Dee Luther, Dorothy Bassaro, Betty Weber and Lillian Weakland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mardell retired as a teacher’s aide from Intermediate Unit 8, and had previously been employed at the former Patton Shirt Factory. She enjoyed gardening, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 146 N. Main St., Carrolltown, Pa. 15722, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday by Pastor Linda Lacovic. Interment, Bakerton United Methodist Cemetery.
