SCHELLSBURG — SHANKLE – Mrs. Elsie Mae, 85, Shankle Road, Schellsburg, died at 8:47 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012, at Donahoe Manor. Mrs. Shankle was born in Windber on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1926, daughter of the late Daniel and Bertha (Heckler) Ott. On March 31, 1945, she married R. Monroe “Rocky” Shankle. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 2006. She is survived by son, Dennis M., husband of Bonnie (Boyer) Shankle, Cumberland, Md.; son, Fred A., husband of Susan (Walsh) Shankle, Schellsburg; and son, Bruce O. Shankle, Schellsburg. She also is survived by five grandchildren, Charity Holley, Michael Shankle, Amanda Lafferty and Trudy and Tanya Shankle; two stepgrandchildren, Derek and Karah Wertz; and six great-grandchildren, Cody, Haley, Alaina, Natalie, Tayla and Cali. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Rummel, and three brothers, Lester Ott, Clarence Ott and Raymond Ott. Elsie was a homemaker. She was a member of United Church of Schellsburg and was a part of the Women’s Society of the church. Elsie’s life was lived for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and would do anything for her family. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, the Rev. Ruth Shaver, officiating. Interment will be held at Schellsburg Cemetery.
