CARROLL – Joseph R. “Joe,” Windber, 65, died July 31, 2012, at Windber Medical Center, Palliative Care Unit, with his loving wife by his side. Born April 10, 1947, in Providence, R.I. Preceded in death by father, Joseph Carroll Sr.; mother, Isabel (Wheeler) Gibson; and stepfather, Harold Gibson. Survived by loving wife, Lori (Moore) Ola-Carroll; sons; daughter; sisters, Mary Sue Gibson, Massachusetts, and Patricia Lyon, Rhode Island; brothers, Arthur and Harold Gibson, Rhode Island; stepchildren; stepgrandchildren; and very special grandson, Haydon, whom he loved very much. Also, nieces, nephews and very special niece, “Cassie Girl.” Joe was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, who served his country proudly and received the Purple Heart for his service. He was a very brave man who fought with dignity to the end and he will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
