Linda J. (Garshnick) Conway

NEW FLORENCE — CONWAY – Linda J. (Garshnick), 64, New Florence, passed away Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Born Dec. 27, 1947, in Johns- town, daughter of the late John and Ruth (Swanson) Garshnick. Survived by husband of 41 years, James F. Conway; children, Frank Conway, Robinson; Amy Conway, Long Beach, Calif.; Colleen, and husband, Scott Marino, New Florence; Stacey Sheriff, Fairfield, Ohio;  James P. Conway, Reno, Nev.;  and Aaron, and wife, Beth Ann (Floro) Conway,  Pittsburgh;  grandchildren,  Kayla Donaldson, Pittsburgh; Devon and  Marissa Conway, both of Denver, Colo.; Brendan, Sarah and Joey Marino, all of New Florence; Lucas, Jacob and Nathan Sheriff, all of Fairfield, Ohio; and Tori and Jonathan Conway, both of Robinson;  sisters, Caroline, and husband, Steve Coffey, Winthrop, Mass.; Ruth Ann, and husband, David Dill, Lakewood, Calif.; and brother, John, and wife, Cathy (Barbus) Garshnick, White House, Tenn.  Linda was the loving, devoted mother of “only” six children, but countless other friends and family members also affectionately called her “Mom,” and many others knew her  as “Aunt Linda” or “Grandma Linda” regardless of whether they were related to her or not.  Linda was given these terms of affection due to her tireless and selfless habit of loving and caring for others, no questions asked. Those who knew and loved her will forever remember her kindness and generosity and her willingness to provide a helping hand, a place to sleep, a hot meal, a shoulder to cry on or just a haircut and good conversation.  Linda’s unconditional love will be truly and greatly missed, and memories of her will be cherished for years to come. Linda was a graduate of United High School and a longtime member of the New Florence Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved to travel the country visiting her brother, sisters, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She had a loud, boisterous laugh, and she loved dancing and seafood.  She was terrified of mice, snakes and rollercoasters, but seemingly feared nothing else. Your friends and family love and miss you more than words can say, and we were so proud and lucky to have you as our “Mom.” Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Interment, Armagh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, 5526 W. 13400 South, No. 510,  Salt Lake City, Utah 84096 (www.cholangiocarcinoma.org); New Florence Community Library, 122 Ligonier St., New Florence, Pa. 15944; or a charity of one’s choice.
