STRONGSTOWN — SHEVOCK – Joseph A. Jr., 77, Strongstown, passed away July 14, 2012, at home. Born March 12, 1935, in Bakerton, the son of Joseph A. Sr. and Ruth Anna (Adams) Shevock. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Fred Shevock; and an infant sibling. Survived by loving wife of 52 years, Lillian (Bracken) Shevock; daughters, Sharon L. Shevock Lutman, wife of James Lutman, Starford; Joddie Lynn Shevock, wife of Robert McGhee, Strongstown; and Joann Schenk, Johnstown; grandchildren, Ashley Sprague, Alicia Patterson, Megan McGhee, Robert McGhee, Joseph Schenk III and Paul Buriak; and great-grandchildren, Sara, Madison, Kadin, Taylor, Jacklyn and Anthony. Brother of Gloria Mitchell, New York; Joan “Cookie” Barnett, Cresson; Sandy Himmel, Carrolltown; Karen Lieb, Northern Cambria; and Jeannette Kopera and Janet Smith, both of Hastings. U.S. Army veteran. Retired coal miner from Greenwich Collieries. Joe was a loving husband, father and grandfather who cherished time spent with his family. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and cross-country skiing. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Moriconi Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria., where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Committal, Bakerton Methodist Cemetery. Military honors by local veterans organizations.
