Matilda M. Chirillo

JOHNSTOWN — CHIRILLO – Matilda M., 91, Johnstown, died March 15, 2013, at Presbyterian Home of Johnstown.  Born Jan. 9, 1922, in Johnstown, daughter of  Anthony and Marina (Piazza) Florina. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter C.; sisters, Dorothy Cerra, Maryann Todaro, Kay Adorno and Jennie Krupi;  and  brother, Anthony Florina. Survived by brother, John Florina, married to Marsha, Illinois; children, Richard, married to Karyn (Lohr); Deanna, married to John E. Haddle; Marie, married to Rodney Miller, Walnutport, Pa.; Nancy Chirillo; and Peter, married to Adonna (Popolo), Virginia; seven grandchildren, Samantha Chirillo, Oregon; John Haddle, married to Lindsey, Eagleville, Pa.; Matthew Haddle, married to Angela, Jeffersonville, Pa.; Stephanie Miller, Philadelphia; Bradley Miller, Walnutport; and Camille and Gena Chirillo, Virginia;  and three great-grandchildren, Harper, John D. and Connor Haddle. Matilda was born to hard-working Italian immigrants and was a member of the greatest generation. While her fiance was off to the war, she worked at Kay Artley Dress Factory, then married her sweetheart after the war and had a blessed union for 55 years.  Matilda was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed. She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, formerly St. Anthony Church, where funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, Father Matthew Misurda. Interment, St. Anthony Cemetery, Geistown. Friends received  from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Memorial donations may be made to the Presbyterian Home of Johnstown, 787 Goucher St., Johnstown, Pa. 15905 or the American Breast Cancer Foundation in memory of Matilda M.
