Ethel Louise Rosa Brunberg

WINDBER — BRUNBERG – Ethel Louise Rosa, born Feb. 21, 1926, died March 4, 2013, peacefully in her sleep. She often said she was blessed to have had loving, caring parents, brothers and sisters who set the tone towards her approach to life. She was raised in Windber, Pennsylvania, a place and time which she felt was the best of eras. She became a hairstylist. She owned and operated one salon. She loved to sing and she loved people. She looked upon herself as one of the luckiest women alive, being blessed with a daughter and the most loving grandson, Matthew I. Rapp, who returned her love beyond words. He became her pride and joy especially in her later years. She felt life is a gift to enjoy to the fullest and wanted all to remember “It’s nice to be nice.” In retrospect, Ethel wants all her dearest family members and friends who have given her a lifetime of private dreams come true to think of her whenever they hear a Sinatra song, enjoy a good glass of wine, laugh heartily at life’s foibles and know she is present with them.  Surviving her is her daughter, Emily Rapp Batista, and her husband, Dr. Carlos Batista, Alexandria, Virginia, along with her grandson, Matthew Ian Rapp, Denver, Colorado, and his father, Garret G. Rapp, Lima, Ohio. She also leaves behind more friends and relatives who she has touched with her stories, her candid introspect, laughter, and love of life.
