LANCASTER COUNTY — MICHAELS – Mary Catherine, 78, Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, passed away at 10:30 p.m. March 18, 2013, at Reading Hospital. She was the wife of the late Comdr.. Donald Matthew Michaels, U.S. Navy retired, who passed away July 30, 1983. Born in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Bertha (Gabriel) Litzinger. She was a 1953 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School and was a member of St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Plowville, Robeson Township. Survived by daughter, Nancy A. King, wife of T. Rob King, Brecknock Township, Lancaster County; and son, Clete Michaels, husband of Michele L. Michaels, Bethel Township. Also survived by six grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Rita Horne, widow of Francis Horne, Hastings; and brother, Raymond J. Litzinger, husband of Mary Kay (Ostrich) Litzinger, Latrobe; along with several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brother, James V. Litzinger, husband of Eileen (Fogerty) Litzinger, Johnstown; and niece, Therese A. Litzinger. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, March 22, at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Plowville, Robeson Township, the Rev. Philip F. Rodgers, celebrant. Family will receive friends from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday, March 22, at the church. An additional Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, March 25, at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford St., Johnstown, Pa. 15904, the Rev. David Peles, celebrant. Interment, Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 24, and from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. Monday, March 25, at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., 710 Broad St., Johnstown, Pa. 15906. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Lung Association, 2121 City Line Road, Bethlehem, Pa. 18017, in memory of Mrs. Mary Catherine Michaels.
