Dr. Charles Leonard Gallucci, M.D.

NEWPORT NEWS, VA. — GALLUCCI – Dr. Charles Leonard, M.D., “Doc,” 87, Newport News, Va., passed away Jan. 2, 2013. Born in Johnstown, son of the late Leonard and Mary Elizabeth Gallucci. He served his country in World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater with U.S. Army Medical Corps as a medical and surgical technician. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950, Pitt Medical School in 1952 and received his Pitt residency in Otolaryngology in 1964. He was in general practice from 1952 to 1960 and otolaryngology practice from 1964 to 1980 in Johnstown. In 1980, he rejoined the Army as lieutenant colonel. He was stationed at Fort Eustis, Va., where he was chief of the ENT Clinic at McDonald Army Hospital until 1993. Member of Johnstown Figure Skating Club, Johnstown Rifle Club and Johnstown YMCA Running Club. Survived by wife, Janis (Griffith) Gallucci; sister, Mary Anne Yost, Pittsburgh; brothers, Thomas Gallucci (Cecelia), Pittsburgh; and Donald Gallucci (Marie), Yarmouth Port, Mass.; and sister-in-law, Bette Griffith, Laurel, Md. Preceded in death by brothers, Robert Gallucci (Toni), Wilmington, Del.; and Laurence Gallucci (Carol), Greensboro, N.C.
