Dwayne Lee Connor

LOWER YODER TOWNSHIP — CONNOR– Dwayne Lee “Dewey,” 70, Lower Yoder Township, lost his battle with cancer  Jan. 11, 2013. Born June 27, 1942, in Johnstown, son of Jacob and Catherine (Parkinson) Connor. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Janet; and brother-in-law, Paul Spanko. Survived by his wife, Theresa “Terri” (Yanko); his children, Tracey, wife of Brian Pundzak, Johnstown; Robyn, wife of James Shaffer, Reading, Pa.; and Matthew, married to Misty (Schalesky), Johnstown; stepchildren, Mary Katherine “Kay,” wife of Shawn Persing, McDonald, Pa.; Diane, wife of Scott Wentz, Johnstown; Jennifer Yanko, Little Rock, Ark.; and Gregory Yanko, Jacksonville, Fla.; his grandchildren, Scotty, Dylan, Sabrina, Haylee and Brody; his brother, Jacob, married to Barbara (Smolar), East Berlin, Pa.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Retired employee of GTE in 1996 with 30 years service. Active member of St. Clair Tremont Trap & Field Club. Lifetime member of Greater Ferndale Sportsmen’s Club and American Legion Post 279, Rockwood. Dwayne “Dewey” served in the Army from 1963–1966 as specialist fourth class, with a tour in Korea. Dwayne “Dewey” loved to be outdoors hunting and fishing; and spending time with his grandchildren. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Moskal-Reid Funeral Home, West End, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, the Rev. William E. Rosenbaum,  celebrant. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in Dwayne’s name.
