LORETTO — McMULLEN – Helen T., 85, Brick Road, Loretto, died Jan. 15, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born May 10, 1927, in Loretto, daughter of the late Michael and Annie (Byrne) Driskel. Preceded in death by beloved husband, Leonard “Len,” on Oct. 31, 1986; brothers, Regis, Russell, Michael Jr. and Francis “Buck”; sister, Catherine Schenk; brothers-in-law, Cyril Schenk and Isodore “Issy” Smithbower; and sister-in-law, Jean (Hite) Driskel. Survived by loving children and spouses, Dian Smith (Jerome “Homer”), Ebensburg; Kathy Sherry (Pat), Carrolltown; Mary Frances “Tut” Miladinovich (Steve), Casper, Wyo.; Phoebe Rosensteel (Alan), Conway, S.C.; Gerald “Joe” (Anna Gresh), Ebensburg; Karen Boland, Gallitzin; Terry (Robin Korber), Loretto; and Susan Fitzsimmons (Jeff), Gallitzin; precious grandchildren, Jerry, Stacey and Nathan Smith; Michael (Tonya), Andy and Vincent Sherry; Derek and Lisa Miladinovich; Kelly, Daniel (Sara) and Casey (Ashley) McMullen; Corey and Ryan Boland; Kaylyn Hines; Jeanie and Faith McMullen; and Chad Fitzsimmons; six great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Smithbower, Ebensburg; sisters-in-law, Gerry Driskel, Chest Springs; and Camille McMullen, Altoona; and many special nieces and nephews. After graduating from Cresson High School, she went to work at the Franciscan Mission Store in Loretto as a secretary and later worked at the Building Fund Office, also in Loretto. Helen was an avid bowler and cinch player. When someone said cards she was ready to go. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or visitation. Member of Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel, Loretto, where memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Malachi Van Tassell and the Rev. Nathan Malavolti, concelebrants. Committal, St. Michael Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Loretto, in Helen’s memory. Arrangements in charge of Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville.
