Thelma M. Johnson

EAST BERLIN — JOHNSON – Thelma M., 93, East Berlin, Pa., died Jan. 21, 2013, at home. She was the wife of the late Kenneth A. Johnson for 63 years. Born Feb. 26, 1919, in Johnstown, daughter of the late William and Helen Berger. She was a former employee of Glosser Bros. in Johnstown. Member of Lake Meade Property Owners Association of East Berlin and Lake Meade Homemakers. Thelma enjoyed reading, gardening and flower arranging and was a former member of Ridge View Garden Club of Harrisburg. Also a member of Lake View Christian Fellowship and Mid-week Bible Study group. Thelma, being part of “America’s Greatest Generation,” during World War II traveled alone from Johnstown to Cleveland, Ohio, to work in an airplane factory to support the war effort. She was one of the original Rosie the Riveters.” She will be lovingly missed by her sons, Kenneth W., Aspers, Pa.; David Allen, and wife, LuAnn, Jackson, N.J.; and Richard D., Harrisburg; daughter, Linda D., and husband, Carl McClrearey, East Berlin, with whom she resided for the past four years; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Lake View Christian Fellowship at Lake Meade Community Center, East Berlin, Pastor Brian Markle, officiating. Private interment service will be held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Lake View Christian Fellowship, P.O.
