NICKTOWN — FARABAUGH – Donald J. “Sparky,” 59, Nicktown, passed away Jan. 23, 2013, at home. Born Aug. 8, 1953, in Spangler, son of Leo and Hilda (Westrick) Farabaugh. Preceded in death by parents; brother-in-law, Patrick Kelly; and very special aunt and uncle, Edna and Raymond Niebauer, who helped to raise Don for several years after his mother died when he was an infant. He will be sadly missed by loving wife of 31 years, Arlene (Springer) Farabaugh; and their children, Dennis, Sandra, Susan and Dean, all at home. Brother of Bernard (Muriel) Farabaugh, Kenneth (Norma) Farabaugh, James (Marcy) Farabaugh and Girard (Jean) Farabaugh, all of Carrolltown; Barbara Kelly, Gettysburg; Janet Tibbott, Northern Cambria; and Kathy (Roger) Duman, Nicktown. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. From a young age, Don worked on the family farm prior to starting his own farm in Nicktown. He also worked as a school bus driver for Farabaugh Bus Lines and truck driver for Springer Oil. Member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Nicktown. Don was a loving husband and father who cherished time with his family, and enjoyed farming, hunting, playing cards and golfing. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Moriconi Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Father Jude Brady, OSB, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don’s memory to Northern Cambria Catholic School or American Cancer Society.
