OVIEDO, FLA. — KOKUS – George, 92, Oviedo, Fla., formerly of Colver, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, in Florida. Born April 1, 1920, in Madera, son of the late Martin and Palagia (Kowalchik) Kokus. Survived by wife, Anna (Gherardi) Kokus; daughter, Maryann Lehman; son, George S. Kokus; brothers, Michael and Nick Kokus; sisters, Mary and Catherine Kokus; and four grandchildren. He retired from the former Eastern Gas & Fuel Co. Mine in Colver. A World War II Army veteran, he was the recipient of the EAME Theater Ribbon with six Bronze Stars, the Bronze Arrowhead, and the Bronze Star Medal with one oak leaf cluster. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg. A brief service beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Revloc, the Rev. Father Andrew Krasulski, celebrant. Committal, Holy Name Cemetery. Military graveside rites by Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team.
