JOHNSTOWN — SCHMADEL – Jacob John III, 84, died Feb. 3, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 27, 1928, in Daisytown, son of the late Jacob J. II and Anna (Gerber) Schmadel. Preceded in death by wife, Margaret (Chromy); and sister, Agnes Wilson. Survived by children, David, and wife, Susan, Windber; Jacob J. IV, and wife, Pam McCleester, Cover Hill; Dan, Reno, Nev.; and Jean Anne Schirato, and husband, Gerald, Windber; grandchildren, David Schmadel; Jennifer Mash, and husband, Ron; Gerald Schirato, and wife, Natalie; and Lorrie Schirato; great-grandchildren, Cole, Cameron, Abigail and Jacob Paul; and special friend, Hayden. Graduate of Johnstown High School, Class of 1946. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and retired loader for Bethlehem Steel Corp. Jacob was a member of the American Legion and AMVETS. He was secretary for the Daisytown School Board for 10 years and a member of Conemaugh Valley School Board for five years. At his request, there will be no viewing or service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Cambria County, 743 Galleria Drive Ext., Johnstown, Pa. 15904.
