Evan Christian Stineman Jr.

GOULDBUSK, TEXAS — STINEMAN – Evan Christian Jr. “Chris,” 78, Gouldbusk, Texas, passed away Feb. 6, 2013, as a result of complications due to a recent illness while at Hendrick Medical Center, Abilene, Texas. Born Sept. 29, 1934, and  raised in South Fork, he graduated from Adams Township High School and the University of Pittsburgh. He spent his 53-year-career in the insurance industry working as both an agent and commercial underwriter. He was one of three children born to the late Evan Christian Sr. and Margaret Stineman, and was the beloved husband of Eileen (Barnhart) Stineman for more than 39 years. Chris will forever be remembered by his devoted brother, Harvey W. Stineman; loving sister, Dr. Carolyn Schroeder; beloved children, Deborah Stineman (deceased), Denice Duman, Evan C. Stineman III, Shannon Casas, Cristen Hand, Jacob C. Stineman, Scott W. Stineman and Rex T. Stineman; 10 treasured grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him. Chris loved organizing hunts at his camp in New Mexico, spending time at his Coleman ranch with friends, promoting shooting sports at the local 4-H and being with his family. Chris touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Friends and family will have a private gathering to spread his ashes at his favorite hunting spot. In lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations be sent to National Rifle Association of America, where he was a lifelong member and whom he gave his much-needed support. Gifts or donations can be made to National Rifle Association of America, P.O. Box 420648, Palm Coast, Fla. 32142-0648, or online at www.nra.org.
