HOOVERSVILLE — MAURER – Carl E., 91, Hooversville, died Feb. 8, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown. Born Dec. 2, 1921, in Lincoln Township, son of Guy and Katie (Bell) Maurer. Preceded in death by parents; son, Charles E.; brothers, Albert, David, Roy and Robert Maurer; and sisters, Sarah Reinbolt and Dorothy Moore. Survived by wife of 62 years, the former Effie Thomas; daughter-in-law, LaDonna (Miller) Maurer; grandsons, Chad, Hooversville; and Craig, married to the former Megan Jeschonek, Stoystown; and great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Maurer. Brother of Daniel, Sipesville; Guy Jr., Chicago; Charles, New Jersey; Donald, Florida; and Mary Agnes Heist, Idaho. He was a World War II Army veteran and retired from Trent Coal Co. Member of Kantner Assembly of God. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and spending time with family. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Hooversville. Viewing will be held from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Monday at Kantner Assembly of God, the Rev. Tim Farkas, officiating. Interment, Beam Cemetery.
