KNOXVILLE, TENN. — DeBIASE – John R., 90, Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Alexandria, Va., passed away Thursday afternoon, June 14, 2012. Born in Windber. Member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church and All Saints Catholic Church, both in Knoxville. He was a veteran of World War II, having flown 50 missions as ball turret gunner with the Army Air Corps. He loved working in his garden and his workshop. Preceded in death by wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Crawford DeBiase; parents, Mary Maggazu DeBiase and James DeBiase; sisters, Rose, Josephine and Kathryn; and brothers, Dominic and Anthony. Survived by daughters, Mary Soles, and husband, Thomas, Fairfax, Va.; and Katherine Wasmund and Margaret DeBiase, both of Knoxville; sons, John C. DeBiase, Middleburg, Va.; and Mark DeBiase, and wife, Beth, Alexandria, Va.; grandchildren, Valerie Soles (Ian Whitmore), Nicholas and Brendan Soles, Caroline and Thomas Wasmund, Christina Amiss (Barrett) and Liz DeBiase; great-grandson, Alden Whitmore; sister, Sarah Dayoob; brothers, James, married to Dorothy Ference; and Robert DeBiase, married to Carol Green; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Mass will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 2201 Graham Ave., Windber.
