SALIX — HUNTER – Donald W., 83, Salix, died Nov. 28, 2012, at Windber Hospice. Born Aug. 20, 1929, in Salix, son of Scott and Viola (Ellenberger) Hunter. Preceded in death by parents; stepmother, Ada Reynolds; daughters, Patricia Ann, Carolyn J. and Connie Hunter; three brothers; and one sister. Survived by wife, Mary Jane (Ohler) Hunter; daughters, Linda Benning, married to Jim, Salix; and Scotti Slowey, married to Bob, Maryland; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Retired U.S. Navy veteran with 20 years of service as boiler repairman. Lifetime member of VFW Menoher Post 155. Member of NRA; Disabled Veterans; American Legion, Dunlo; and Fleet Reserve Association. Friends received from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rummel Church of the Brethren, Windber, Pastor Ruby Mader, officiating.
