Jane T. (Gladis) Helsel

DAVIDSVILLE — HELSEL – Jane T. (Gladis), Davidsville, died Nov. 28, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center. Daughter of John and Catherine (Obarsky) Gladis. Preceded in death by parents; infant brother, John; and grandson, Michael D. Lubinsky. Survived by husband of 51 years, Daniel C.; daughters, Lynn, married to David Lubinsky, Davidsville; and Tracy, married to Jeffrey Grandas, Davidsville; stepdaughter, Kathy, married to Kim Sass, Hamden, Conn.; grandchildren, Jennifer, married to Justin Lasure, Jerome; Maria Grandas, Pittsburgh; Jimmy Grandas, Davidsville; Andy Wantiez, Ebensburg; Joel Wantiez, and wife, Cica, Windber; and Tyler Wantiez, Windber; sisters, Joan, married to Frank Wolffe, Mclean, Va.; and Doris Kisha, Johnstown; brother, Robert Gladis, Johnstown; brothers-in-law, Dave Helsel, Arlington, Texas; Dick Helsel, and wife, Betty, Thomas Mills; Billy, Davidsville; Barry, St. Augustine, Fla.; and Stan McQuaide, Johnstown; sister-in-law, Charlotte Helsel, Davidsville; and numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren. A graduate of Johnstown High School. Jane worked with her husband, Dan, in their businesses for 30 years. Active member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Johnstown, and the church’s Cana Society. Also a member of the Quota Club of Johnstown for 28 years. Jane’s favorite pastime was being with her family and friends. She wrote the best letters to everyone and was always there to listen. Jane and Dan traveled the world extensively and she loved beach vacations with her family. However, her favorite place to be was her home. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville, where Parastas service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Monsignor Raymond Balta, presiding. Committal, Grandview Cemetery. Donations in Jane’s memory may be sent to St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, St. Andrew’s Catholic School or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
