SALEM, VA. — HARTEIS – Leo Paul, 87, Salem, Va., passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, Nov.  28, 2012. Leo was born in Johnstown to the late Lawrence and Philomena Harteis. Leo proudly served his country as a Marine in World War II. He was once a member of both the Salem Moose Lodge and the Catholic War Veterans. He was the owner and operator of D & L Trucking for many years. Along with his parents, Leo was preceded in death by three wives, Helen, Margaret and Dorothy; a son, Raymond Harteis; two sisters; and three brothers. He is survived by five sons, Leo Harteis Jr., Hot Springs, Mont.; Tim Harteis, and his wife, Gayle, Vonore, Tenn.; Dan Harteis, Blairsville; Mark Harteis, Torrence; and Jack Harteis, and his wife, April, Goodview, Va.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grand children also survive. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at St. John Gualbert Cathedral, Johnstown. Interment will follow at St. John Gualbert Cemetery.
