KANSAS — THOMAS – William Cable, 86, passed away Dec. 7, 2012, at his home in rural Pretty Prairie, Kan. Born March 25, 1926, in Johnstown, son of Harry S. and Nellie Cable Thomas. A longtime Pretty Prairie resident, formerly of Johnstown, he was a retired Bethlehem Steel employee and former school bus driver. He attended Maranatha Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson, Kan. Member of Kauffman Mennonite Church and Christian Motorcycle Association. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. On Aug. 8, 1953, he married Ethel Mae Collier. Other survivors include sons, William C., and wife, Ruth; and James E., and wife, Sherry; daughter, Deb, and husband, Merlin; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by sister, Ferne Thomas. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Kauffman Mennonite Church. Burial, Thomas Mennonite Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Kauffman Mennonite Church or Christian Motorcycle Association.
