Walter G. Yeager

ZANESVILLE, OHIO — YEAGER – Dr. Walter G., 86, Zanesville, Ohio, was called home to heaven at 11:31 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Forest View Health Campus. Born Dec. 2, 1925, in Johnstown, to the late Elmer F. and Elvira D. Carlson Yeager. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy M. McCombie Yeager. They were married for 56 years. Dr. Yeager was educated at Johnstown High School, Parks College of Aeronautical Technology, St. Louis University, Spartan School of Aeronautics and the University of Pittsburgh. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps Training Command, where he trained fighter pilots to fly B-17 Flying Fortresses. He earned his doctor of theology and Ph.D. at Trinity Theological Seminary. Dr. and Mrs. Yeager had a musical evangelistic ministry for 10 years, and traveled across the eastern United States, Guadeloupe and Trinidad in the West Indies. They traveled extensively to Asia Minor, Turkey, Italy, Greece, Israel and Egypt. They went to Zanesville, Ohio, in 1960, and pastored Calvary Baptist Church, including a radio ministry for 34 years. Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Ohio, and from noon until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, the Rev. Dr. Jerry L. Gamble, officiating. Dr. Yeager will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
