UPPER YODER TOWNSHIP — CRAIG – Sarah E., 98, Upper Yoder, formerly of Moxham, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Nov. 29, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 17, 1914, in Wilmore, daughter of Stewart Earl and Mary Amelia (George) Hess. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Charles L. Craig; brothers, George, Stanley and Robert, and twin brother, Stewart E.; and sisters, Sallie Hess and Mary Miller. Survived by devoted daughter and best friend, Donna, married to Wilfried Sender, with whom she resided; granddaughters, Gretchen, married to Richard Schreiber, Pittsburgh; and Lori, married to Jerry Dudash, Johnstown; great-granddaughters, Alexa, Bethany and Charlotte Schreiber; and Lily and Sarah Dudash; sister, Martha “Betty” Kauffman, Johnstown; and brother, John, and wife, Alice, Virginia. In addition to many nieces and nephews, Sarah also is survived by special niece, Sheila (Kauffman) Farrer; and special nephew, David Hess. Member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, where she taught the Philathea Sunday school class for 45 years and served as the first woman member of the board of trustees. Also a member of United Methodist Women. Sarah was a wonderful cook and baker, always making sure there were cookies and pies for her family to enjoy. She especially enjoyed visits from her great-granddaughters, and spent much time reading, especially the Bible. Sarah lived her life for Christ, always walking in the knowledge that Jesus was her Saviour. She was an example for many who crossed her path. Sarah always said “Prayer is the key to Heaven. But faith unlocks the door.” Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. Friends also will be received from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at Park Avenue United Methodist Church, the Rev. Kathleen Schoeneck and the Rev. James Farrer, officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
