JOHNSTOWN — SVIRSKO – Elvida, 91, Johnstown, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Siemons Lakeview Manor, Somerset. Born April 23, 1921, in Johnstown, daughter of Anthony and Theresa (Covello) Caputo. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Alex Svirsko Sr., who died Oct. 6, 1997; sisters, Marie Pinizzotto, Amelia Altimore and Assunta Martire; and brothers, Sam, Vincent, Rocco and Frank Caputo. Survived by “The Boys,” Thomas M., married to Betty Yarrington, Spring Grove, Pa.; George S., married to Pam Sabo, Somerset; and Alex Jr., married to Dawn Moomaw, Johnstown; grandchildren, Michael, Alesha, George Jr., Stacey, Sonya, Anna and Clare; great-grandchildren, Aila, Alex, Arabella, Roque, Katie and Olivia; and a sister, Angeline Hudec. Elvida was formerly employed at Kay Artley Dress Factory. She was the former treasurer for Ladies Lodge of Sons of Italy and the Am-Slo Auxiliary. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and St. Rocco Society. She also was president of the Mothers Club of the former Hudson Street School. Thanks to Mary Ann of Nealen Personal Care and LaMonna, Esther and Carol of ALSM at Home and special thanks to Danielle, Michelle and Brian of Heartland Hospice and to Audrey. She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Father Matthew Misurda officiating. Friends received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Interment, St. Anthony Cemetery.
