Born Dec. 16, 1924, in Cymbria, son of John and Frances (Kozdeba) Stanek. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Margaret Kronk, in 1995; and brothers, Stanley, John, Walter, George, Andrew, Anthony, Joseph, Leo and Francis. Survived by son, Edward Stumpf, and wife, Debbie, Northern Cambria; grandchildren, Samantha and Taylor; and siblings, Mary Lubert, New Jersey; William, Mars; and Bernard, Canonsburg. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Former coal miner. Retired maintenance technician at Cooper Union College, New York City. Former member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, Barnesboro. Member of St. Philip Neri, Bronx, N.Y. Friends received from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 5 p.m. Funeral Mss will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
