Preceded in death by parents; infant daughter, Patricia Gale; and brothers, Gerald, Fred, Morris and Kenneth. Survived by wife of 67 years, former Mildred Wain, and these children: Larry, and wife, Gloria, Hooversville; Robert, Hooversville; Jacqualine, and husband, John Cook, Stoystown; Wendy, and husband, Pete Barnhart, Somerset; and John, and wife, Tina, Hooversville. Also survived by grandchildren, Tanya (Dale) Holsopple; Todd Lohr; Jennifer (Jeff) Cook; Tammy (Shawn) Walker; Lori Barnhart; Jessica (Michael) Rodrigues; Breanna (Jim) Halkovich; Joseph Cook (fiancee, Megan); Tom Lohr; and Tiffany, Stefanni, Keena, Kendra and Lanyiah Lohr; stepgrandchildren, Vanessa and Tyler Thomas and Amanda Hershberger; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Josh and Jonathan Holsopple; Aubrey, Tia and Dorin Cook; Shaelyn, Shawna and Shandi Walker; Brody, Jaxson and Dylan Halkovich; and Adelina and baby Rodrigues; and stepgreat-granddaughter, Mikayla Thomas. Brother of Zella Naugle, Michigan; Geniva Brant; Janet Gindlesperger; and Jean Thomas, all of Hooversville; and Jerry Lohr, Waynesboro. Dayton was a member of the St. Thomas Lutheran Church, where he served on the Cemetery Association. He was a retired U.S. Steel worker and dairy farmer. He was a member of the Allied Milk Producers and a life member of the Holstein Association. Dayton was a World War II Army veteran. Member of Tatman Hunting Camp. Family receiving friends from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Hooversville, Pastor Nila Cogan, officiating. Interment, St. Thomas Cemetery. George E. Mason Funeral Home Inc., Davidsville, is in charge of arrangements. Those who wish can make donations to the Southern Care Hospice, Altoona.
