Anthony Carpenter

MARTINSBURG, W.VA. — CARPENTER – Anthony “Tony,” 62, formerly of Johnstown, died March 17, 2013, in Martinsburg, W.Va. Born Jan. 9, 1951, in Camp Atterbury, Ind., son of the late Peter A. and Ada C. (Wells) Carpenter. Survived by loving daughter, Carrie A. Albers, Leesburg, Va.; grandson, Daniel M. Albers; twin brother, Vaughn T. Carpenter, married to Carol, Johnstown; nephew, Joel Carpenter; birth mother, Theresa, Somerset; three brothers; and five half siblings and their families. Also survived by his uncle, Sam Carpenter, married to Delores, Johnstown; first wife, Debra Iachini-Lux, mother of Carrie. Tony was a proud U.S. Navy veteran. He spent his last several years bettering his life through the VA programs while battling diabetes. Tony found joy and purpose in showing kindness to other veterans, as well as his retirement community in West Virginia. He was most proud of his family and nothing made him laugh like his grandson. Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, Father David S. Peles, officiating. Private committal at St. Joseph Cemetery, Geistown. The family suggests contributions be directed to American Diabetes Association, via the “Always and Forever” Tribute page at www.diabetes.org.
