CARROLLTOWN — THOMAS – Mona R., 82, Carrolltown, passed away March 7, 2013, at ARHS-Altoona Hospital Campus. Born April 30, 1930, in Carrolltown, daughter of Lambert E. and Ruth M. (Dillon) Weakland. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Donald E. Thomas; twin sons, Michael and Mark J. “Nib” Thomas; brother, James Weakland; daughter-in-law, Sue Thomas; and son-in-law, Richard Elders. Survived by children, David (Annette) Thomas, Carrolltown; Michele (Don) Baker, Carrolltown; Dan Thomas, Carrolltown; Melissa Elders, Vinco; Don Thomas, Johnstown; Marcia McClure, State College; Dennis (Cindy) Thomas, Annandale, Va.; Doug Thomas, Syracuse, N.Y.; Drew (Cheryl) Thomas, Carrolltown; Darin (Nancy) Thomas, Mishawaka, Ind.; and Mary (Ron) Macalus, State College; 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Pat (Betty) Weakland and Joe (Janet) Weakland; sister, Paully Evangelist; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mona retired from Cambria Heights School District after many years of service. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, the beach and bingo. Her greatest joy in life were her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 146 N. Main St., Carrolltown, Pa. 15722, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Additional viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until time of funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, the Rev. Jude W. Brady, OSB. Interment, church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Benedict Catholic School, P.O. Box 596, Carrolltown, Pa. 15722.
